How to try it

Put a few crackers on one plate and a different number on another, and ask which plate has more and which has fewer. Count them together to check, then let your child move one over to make the plates match before they eat.

Materials

  • Plain crackers or cereal rounds
  • Two plates

Safety note

Use foods your child already eats safely, and have them sit down to eat with an adult nearby. If you swap in grapes, cherry tomatoes, or other round foods, cut them into quarters lengthwise.
