Smell the flower, blow the candle

How to try it

Sit together and breathe in slowly through the nose as if smelling a flower, then blow out slowly as if blowing out a birthday candle. Hold up one finger as the candle so there is something to aim at. Do three rounds when everyone is calm, so it feels familiar when a day gets bumpy.

Materials

No special materials listed.

Safety note

Use a finger, a paper candle, or a pinwheel, never a real lit candle. Keep the breaths gentle rather than big, have your child sit, and stop if they feel dizzy.
